Monthly Club Meeting At its July 8 meeting, the Alameda Democratic Club is honored to host guest speakers Mercia Andrews and
Brian Ashley of Capetown, South Africa. Ms Andrews, a leading social justice activist, is currently the
director of the Land Right’s organization, Trust for Community Outreach and Education, and is a leader of
the New Women’s Movement. Mr. Ashley is co-managing editor of the South African magazine, Amandla, and is a founding member of the Conference of the Democratic Left. In addition to describing the scope of their political magazine, they will discuss their grassroots political organizing post-apartheid.

2nd Annual Garden Party We are holding our 2nd Annual Afternoon Garden Party at the Ann Miller Muir Historical House, a Colonial Revival Home in Alameda’s Gold Coast.
All funds raised will go towards our 2010 campaign HQ.
